Five Little Peas

A Life in a Pod

Once upon a time, there were five little peas who lived in a pod. They were all different, but they still lived together, because the pea pod was still closed. They were too small to face the sun.

They used to sleep all day, but at night, they would talk to each other and listen to the music around them, especially the music of the moon. The crescent moon would tie a few silver strings to its tips.

It used to play beautiful melodies on a harp for the little peas. During full moon times, it used to play the drums. The little peas would wake up, listening to the noisy drums played by the moon.

The Peas' Reactions to Music

But each little pea had its own reaction to the moon's music.

— I love the sound of the drums. Boom, boom, boom, boom! I love this music.

— I love the castanets. It's so soothing!

— I love how it plays the harp. It's beautiful! So melodious!

— Oh, why can't it be quiet? Forget the music. I like to sleep as much as possible. Just go with the flow of life.

The fourth little pea was very lazy. It liked to sleep most of the time.

The Youngest Pea

The fifth and youngest little pea was very different from the other four.

— I love all kinds of music. The castanets, the drums, and the harp too. Each one is special and makes me happy when I listen to them.

The Pod Becomes Too Small

The little peas grew bigger day by day. They didn't realize it until they had fully developed. Now they felt how their pod had become too crowded.

— Please, move aside. I don't have room to move.

— Neither do I. It's suffocating in here.

— The pod has become too cramped to stay.

— Yes, I can't sleep here anymore. Please, make a little room for me.

— I'm the smallest, but I'm still struggling to move.

A New World

They all complained and begged each other to make room. Suddenly, the pea pod burst open and a bright light streamed in.

— Oh, no! Who opened the pod?

— This is ridiculous! Why won't you let me sleep in peace?

— Please, close the pod again. Please, I can't open my eyes!

— It can't be closed now. Mother Nature has opened it.

— Wow! Our pod exploded! Yippee! I'm so happy!

The Decision to Leave

After a few minutes, when they all got used to the sunlight, they started a discussion.

— I think we have a chance.

— What kind of chance?

— A chance to go out and discover the world.

— Do you think that's a good idea? I think the world outside is dangerous for us.

— Why are we wasting our time discussing possibilities? I want to go out and see the different colors of the world. I want to enjoy my life beyond the pod.

— Do what you want. I want to keep sleeping.

— Let's give it a chance.

— Is it really a good idea to leave the pod?

— We've been here for a long time. We don't know anything about the world outside.

— Let's go and enjoy our time, because we are free from this little pod.

The Adventure Begins

They debated the subject for a while and decided to leave the pea pod. They took it as an adventure and decided to go all the way. One by one, they slid down from the pod.

— Hold onto the stem tightly!

— I don't know where we'll land! Be careful!

— Catch me if you can!

— I hope I find a good place to sleep there.

— Where are you all? Don't leave me alone! It's slippery here!

A New Perspective

They landed on a plowed field, on a pea patch. They were happy because they were exploring the world for the first time.

— Wow! It's so beautiful here!

— Yes, I'm happy to be here.

— It was a wise decision to leave the pod.

— I want to sleep. Find me a good spot.

— Hey, look! We were living on a branch high above the ground.

Danger in the New World

While they were talking about the new world they were seeing, a boy passing by spotted them.

— Aha! These peas are perfect for my slingshot. I'll take them right now!

The boy picked the peas one by one. The first pea flew far into the air. The other peas couldn't even see it anymore.

— Oh, I'm going to die!

Then, the boy shot the second, third, and fourth peas with his slingshot.

— Someone help me! I don't know where I'll land!

— This boy is killing us just for his amusement!

— I wish I would fall into a rhythm where I can sleep undisturbed.

The Little Pea's Hope

Then, the youngest pea took flight.

— Wow! I'm flying through the clouds like a butterfly! Oh, my destiny! Take me to a place where I can have a wonderful life!

The youngest pea landed on a windowsill.

— Oh, luckily, I landed safely.

The Sick Little Girl

As it looked through the window, it saw a little girl lying on her bed. She was sick and coughed continuously. Her mother was begging her to eat.

— Please, have some soup, my dear. It will give you strength to fight the illness.

— I'm sorry, Mom, I don't think I can eat anymore.

— If you don't eat, how will you become strong and healthy again?

The pea saw that the mother was trying to feed her little girl, but the girl was too sick to eat. The mother seemed very worried about the little girl. At night, when the little one fell asleep, the mother prayed for her.

— Please, help my child recover. I can't bear to see her suffer anymore. Bless her with health, please. I beg you for my child's life!

The Moon's Music and Hope

And the pea was sad for the mother and her daughter. Late at night, the pea entered her room through the window. With the full moon in the sky, the pea sang a drum song for the little girl.

— Bang, bang, bang! Listen to what I'm singing! Bang, bang, bang! Listen to what I'm singing!

— Who is it? I just heard sounds! Who is it?

— It's me! I'm here, on the windowsill!

— You're talking? I've never seen a talking pea before!

— I can sing too. I was singing you a song with the moon's drums.

— The moon's drums?

— Yes. The moon plays the drums when it
