Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

Once upon a time, in the desert of Arabia, there was a kingdom. There lived a poor tailor who had a son named Aladdin. He loved to play all day in the city market with Abu, his little monkey.

Sadly, when he was 16 years old, his father died.

— Mother, I will work at the shop to earn money. Don't worry.

So Aladdin began to work at his father's shop. One day, a stranger entered his shop.

Meeting the Uncle

— Hello, dear Aladdin. I heard about your father's passing. I wasn't in town at the time. — I haven't met you before. Who are you? — I am your uncle. I have lived abroad for many years. — Oh, uncle! I had heard about you from father. — I am here to show you a secret place. A hidden treasure. Come with me. Let's go! — A treasure? Alright. Let's go.

Aladdin mounted his camel and set off on their journey. They rode through the desert for days. Finally, they arrived at two mountains separated by a narrow valley.

— We've arrived. Gather some kindling to make a fire.

After lighting the fire, the man threw some powder over it and began to recite some magic words. The ground trembled and opened before them. From within emerged a smooth marble stone with a ring in the middle.

— Huh? Ah! What's happening, uncle? I'm getting scared. — Don't be afraid of anything. Do as I tell you. Beneath this stone lies a treasure that will be yours, so you must do exactly as I tell you. First, take this ring.

Aladdin took the ring. The stone moved aside, and beneath it appeared steps leading down.

The Cave of Treasures

— At the end of these steps, you will find an orchard full of wonderful fruit trees. Pass among them without touching anything, otherwise you will die instantly. Go straight until you reach a place where there is a lit lamp. Pour out the oil in the lamp and bring it to me. This ring will protect you from dangers.

Aladdin carefully descended the stairs, without touching the golden walls. At the end of the stairs was an orchard with fruit trees.

— How delicious these fruits look!

Aladdin was hungry. He couldn't resist picking some fruit. As soon as he picked an apple, it turned into a ruby.

— Wow!

He picked some grapes, which turned into pearls. Aladdin gathered as many fruits as he could on his way. Soon, he saw a lit lamp.

He poured out the oil and placed it on top of the fruits. Aladdin returned to the steps where the magician uncle was eagerly waiting for him.

— Come on! Give me the lamp! — My hands are full. Come and help me, uncle! — You foolish boy! Either you give me the lamp, or you stay here forever!

In his fury, the magician mumbled some magic spells, and the stone door closed. Aladdin remained trapped in the cave.

— Uncle! Uncle! Let me out! Uncle! Uncle! I shouldn't have trusted that man!

Aladdin cried and cried for days, waiting for someone to save him, but no one came.

— Oh, someone get me out of here! Please! Someone help me!

As he made his wish, Aladdin touched the ring with his fingers and, to his surprise, found himself at home.

The Discovery of the Genie

— Ah! Where have you been for so long? I've looked for you everywhere I could.

Aladdin told her the whole story and showed her all the treasures he had gathered.

— This lamp is so old!

She began to rub the lamp to clean it. To her surprise, a giant genie emerged from it.

— Ha ha ha! My lady! Tell me your wish. I am your slave, for you hold the lamp.

Aladdin and his mother were astonished. The mother asked the genie for a rich meal, as they had both been starving for days.

Immediately, the genie brought 12 silver plates to the table. Then, in each plate appeared delicious dishes, such as roasts, cakes, butter croissants, and many more.

Aladdin and his mother ate to their heart's content. His mother sold the plates at the market and bought necessities for living.

Aladdin's Love

One day, Aladdin was walking through the market with Abu. Suddenly, he heard an announcement.

— Close the shops! Clear the way! Anyone who looks at the princess will have their head cut off! — The princess? I've never seen her. Today I will see her, no matter what.

Aladdin hid behind a pile of barrels. The princess's palanquin passed by. She was looking out the window through the curtains. Aladdin was fascinated by her beauty.

— Wow! She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I will marry her.

He ran home and told his mother that he had found his love.

— How can you even think of marrying a princess? The Sultan will order you to be beaten if he finds out. — I am ready for it. Just go to the palace and present my proposal. Take some magic fruits with you as a gift.

His mother took some magic fruits and wrapped them in a silk cloth. She went to the Sultan's palace. His guards wouldn't let her in, but the Sultan was curious to see what she had brought in the silk cloth.

— Hmm. Let her in. — Thank you very much, Your Majesty. I ask for your daughter's hand in marriage on behalf of my son. My son has fallen in love with the princess. — Ha ha ha! It would be an insult to my daughter to live with a man as poor as your son. And what have you brought there in the silk cloths?

She unfolded the cloth and showed the Sultan the wonderful fruit-shaped jewels.

— Oho! I have never seen such beautiful jewels in my life. I am impressed. But before I accept the proposal, your son must prove himself worthy of it. Tell him to bring me 40 golden trays with such jewels. Two slaves dressed in the most expensive clothes will carry each tray. — Yes, Your Majesty.

The mother returned home and told Aladdin the Sultan's conditions.

— Don't worry.

Aladdin rubbed the lamp and asked the genie for what the Sultan had ordered. The genie made a house full of slaves appear, with jewels on golden trays.

— Take this to the Sultan. This time he will be pleased.

Aladdin's mother immediately went to the palace and presented the gifts.

The Wonderful Palace

— You have impressed me again. But your son must build a wonderful palace in which to live with my daughter.

The mother returned home and told Aladdin about the Sultan's condition. He immediately rubbed the lamp and told the genie his wish.

The genie built a superb palace overnight. It could be seen from the Sultan's window. The genie laid a carpet from Aladdin's palace to the Sultan's palace.

— Good job, genie! Now, give me royal clothes and a beautiful horse. — Yes, master, as you wish.

The genie dressed him in the most beautiful clothes. Aladdin went to the Sultan's palace riding a superb white horse.

— I am glad to see you, young man. You have proven your powers. You deserve my daughter to be your wife. I will announce your marriage. Begin the preparations!

Aladdin and the princess married happily. The kingdom was full of happiness and joy. The marriage made Aladdin famous in all kingdoms and all lands.

The Princess's Abduction

The magician also learned of the wedding and Aladdin's unexpected wealth.

— How did this boy escape from the cave? He probably stole my lamp to gain these riches. I will teach him a lesson.

The magician went to Aladdin's kingdom. He disguised himself as a lamp seller. He went to Aladdin's palace with an interesting offer. Aladdin was not at the palace at that moment.

— Does anyone want to exchange old lamps for new ones? — Aladdin will be very happy if I surprise him with a new lamp. He has been using that old lamp for a long time.

She took the magic lamp and exchanged it with the magician. He immediately rubbed the lamp and called the genie.

— Master, tell me your wish. I am your slave, for you hold the lamp. — Take this palace along with the princess to a distant place in the desert, where no one can find them.

In an instant, the palace vanished. The Sultan saw from his window that Aladdin's palace had disappeared from its place. He ordered Aladdin to be brought to his palace.

— Because of your magic tricks, I have lost my daughter. Bring her back in four days, or your head will be cut off. — I will find her. I promise.

Aladdin roamed the entire kingdom for three days, but he could not find the princess anywhere.

Saving the Princess and the Palace

— I must use the ring. It will help me once again. I wish to see my princess.

Soon after, he found himself at the gates of his palace. It was an immense desert, and in the middle was only his palace. He sneaked inside and found the princess in her room. They embraced and began to cry.

The princess told him the whole story.

— Don't worry. I have a plan to escape and get my lamp back.

Aladdin whispered in her ear and gave her a small bottle with a potion. It was a potion that left the victim unconscious. Aladdin hid behind the curtain and lay in wait. The magician returned to the palace.

— Oh, dear Mustafa! Don't you want to drink the juice I made today? Please, try it. — My queen! I have been waiting for this moment for so long. Give me the drink. I would drink it even if it were poison.

The princess poured the juice into a glass and added a few drops of the potion. Then she encouraged him to drink the juice.

— Don't you think everything is terribly dark here?

The magician's eyelids slowly closed, and he fell unconscious on the table. Aladdin immediately came out and took the lamp from his robe.

— Master, master, what is your wish? I am your slave, for you hold the lamp. — Take us to the Sultan's kingdom along with our palace. Leave this cunning magician somewhere far away in the desert, so he can never escape again.

Happy Ending

The genie did as he was asked, and they were all back home in their kingdom. Seeing Aladdin's courage, the Sultan offered him his crown. A grand coronation ceremony took place for Aladdin. They all lived happily ever after.
