Alice in Wonderland

A Boring Day

One sunny afternoon, little Alice and her sister decided to go to the park. While her sister read a book, Alice grew bored waiting for her.

— She promised she'd play with me. But obviously, a book without pictures is more interesting for grown-ups. Oh! I'll never understand grown-ups. Does that mean I won't understand myself when I grow up?

The White Rabbit

— Oh dear, oh dear! I'm going to be late!

— A talking rabbit! A pocket watch! How curious! I must follow him!

And without thinking how she would get out, she went down into the rabbit hole.

— Whoa!

An Unexpected Fall

Suddenly, it was no longer a rabbit hole. Alice was falling down a deep and strange well.

— This is taking so long! Either this well is too deep, or I'm falling too slowly! I should have reached somewhere near the center of the earth by now!

— Oh! A pile of grass. How thoughtful!

A Long Hall with Small Doors

— What is this place?

She now stood in a long hall. There were small locked doors everywhere.

— This is a strange place. And where did the White Rabbit go? How do I get out of here? What if I never leave?

Frightened, she walked forward and saw a three-legged glass table. On top of it was a tiny golden key. Without wasting a minute, Alice opened the tiny door with the minuscule key. She knelt down to see what was on the other side. And oh, what she saw was a delight.

— Wow! This is the most beautiful garden I've ever seen. Oh! I wish I could squeeze through this door.

But she couldn't. Disappointed, she returned to the table. There she saw a bottle.

A Mysterious Bottle

— Oh! Didn't I just see this bottle here? What could it be for?

And she immediately drank it. And as she drank, she began to shrink. It was an unusual feeling for Alice. It was like a telescope closing.

— Ow! I think I've shrunk like a telescope. Now I can easily get out the door.

But she quickly realized:

— No! The key! Oh, oh, oh! Boo-hoo! Why did I come to this place? Boo-hoo!

Just then, Alice noticed a small glass box under the table.

— What? What's that?

The Magic Cake

And oh, what the cake did, because Alice began to grow very much. And big, and big. She was so tall now that she couldn't see her own feet. Soon, her head hit the ceiling.

— Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh no!

Now Alice could get the key, but she was too big to fit through the door. She sat down and began to cry. And she cried, and she cried. Her tears began to flood the floor, when suddenly...

— Oh! The Duchess will be furious if I make her wait!

— Oh! Mr. Rabbit! Can you please... Oh! How rude! How useful would the talking rabbit be to the Duchess if he can't even notice a very big girl right here! Oh! It's so warm in here. I wonder what my feet are doing now that I can't see them. I hope they're learning to keep clean without my help. Oh dear!

The Glove and the Fan

Alice was wearing a small white glove.

— How did this fit on my hand? Oh! How did I get so small? Ah! It's the fan! The fan made me shrink. I'm so tiny now! Phew! That was a close call. Oh!

— Oh! Saltwater? Did I somehow fall into the sea?

Then it didn't take long for Alice to realize that these were her own tears. Suddenly, a big wave carried Alice out the door.

— Oh! I hope I dry off soon. I wouldn't want to catch a cold now.

The Rabbit's House

— What are you doing here? Go home and bring me a pair of gloves and a fan.

— Home? Which home?

— My house! Over there! Go now!

Alice was so confused and scared that she started walking towards the rabbit's house without asking him.

— He probably mistook me for his maid, she thought.

She entered a small, clean room. There on the table was the fan, a pair of gloves, and a small bottle.

— I know something interesting is sure to happen whenever I eat or drink. Let's see what this bottle does. I'm tired of being such a tiny thing.

Her head now touched the ceiling.

— I'm stuck!

Just then, the rabbit came.

— Oh! My hand!

Alice was so uncomfortable. She wanted to stretch out her hand, but...

— Oh! There's a hand sticking out of my house window! Oh, it's a giant! A giant in my house! Help! Help!

The animals quickly gathered. The smallest, Bill the lizard, was asked to enter the house through the chimney. Alice managed to put her foot into the chimney and...

— Shoo!

Then the rabbit had an idea, which wasn't the cleverest, I must say.

— Ow! Oh! Cake! Maybe it will help me shrink again!

And it did. As soon as she was small enough, Alice ran out of the house. Far away from all the animals, into the forest.

The Caterpillar

— Ow! The first thing I need to do is grow back to my normal size.

— Oh! I can help you. Not that you should be ashamed of your size. Look at me.

— Oh, of course. That's not what I meant. You're beautiful.

— Of course I am.

— One side will make you grow taller, and the other side will make you become shorter.

— One side of what?

— Of the mushroom, of course.

Now the real question was figuring out the sides of something as round as a mushroom. Alice finally broke off pieces from both sides. She nibbled a little from the right, and her neck grew even taller. She grew almost like a beanstalk. Immediately she swallowed a piece from the left, and now she was smaller than before. Tired, she kept nibbling from the mushroom pieces, taking a little bit from each, sometimes growing taller and sometimes shorter. Until finally, she managed to return to her normal size.

— Phew! Half of my plan is done. What a confusing day! I should keep these mushroom pieces in case I need them again. I should thank the caterpillar, but still, it was so strange! I don't know what could annoy her.

The Cheshire Cat

— Oh! Who isn't strange here, my dear?

— Oh! Hello! I have to ask. Do you grin like that all the time?

— Well, yes, of course. I'm a Cheshire
