Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Introduction
A fairy tale in Romanian.
Once upon a time, there was a little cottage in the forest where Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and their baby bear, Little Bear, lived.
There was also a little girl named Goldilocks, who lived with her family.
A Walk in the Forest
One morning, while playing, Goldilocks wandered into the forest.
That morning, the bears had made porridge for breakfast. The porridge was still very hot.
So the bears decided to go for a walk in the forest.
The Bears' House
As she roamed through the forest, Goldilocks came upon a house with a very big door.
She was very eager to go inside the house. She went and knocked on the door.
— Hello! Is anyone home?
No one answered, so she opened the door and went in.
The Porridge
She saw a table. And on the table were three bowls of porridge. Goldilocks was hungry.
— The porridge smells so good! I'll just taste a little!
She went to the first bowl and tasted the porridge.
— Ouch! This porridge is much too hot! I've burned my tongue!
So she tasted the porridge from the second bowl.
— Oh! This porridge is too cold!
Now she had to taste the porridge from the last bowl.
— Ah! This porridge is just right!
The Chairs
After she ate, she felt tired. She went into the living room where she saw three chairs.
Goldilocks sat on the first chair to rest her feet.
— This chair is too big!
So she sat on the second chair.
— And this chair is too big!
So she tried the last chair, the smallest one.
— Ah! This chair is just right!
But no sooner had she sat down than the chair broke.
— Oh, no!
The Bed
Goldilocks was very tired now. She had nowhere to rest, so she decided to go upstairs to the bedroom.
She lay down on the first bed.
— It's too hard for me!
Then she lay down on the second bed.
— Ow! This bed is too soft!
Then she lay down on the third bed.
— Ah! This one is just right!
The Bears' Return
While she was sleeping, the three bears returned home.
— Someone has been eating my porridge!
Growled Papa Bear.
— And someone has been eating my porridge too!
— And someone has been eating my porridge and eaten it all up!
— Someone has been sitting in my chair!
— And someone has been sitting in my chair too!
— And someone has been sitting in my chair and broken it all to pieces!
Then the three bears decided to look around more carefully. When they got upstairs to the bedroom, Papa Bear growled:
— Someone has been sleeping in my bed!
— And someone has been sleeping in my bed too!
— And someone has been sleeping in my bed, and here she is! And she's still here!
Exclaimed Little Bear, frightened.
Goldilocks' Escape
As the three bears headed towards her, Goldilocks woke up.
— Help! Help!
She jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs. She opened the door and ran into the forest as fast as her legs could carry her.
Conclusion
And she never came back again.
