The Mega Demon

Once upon a time, when sadness hadn't even been invented yet, there was a village called Hura. The people of Hura were the happiest people, and they greeted each other in a special way.

— Hura! What a beautiful day! — Hura! You look wonderful today! — Hura!

This is Mr. Tail. He is the village leader, also known as the Sarpanch.

— My dear brothers and sisters of Hura, today we gather here just for the sake of it. There's no reason. But do we need a reason? — No! — Good. Now go. Enjoy yourselves! Hura! — Hura!

The People of Hura and the Demon's Arrival

As I was saying, the people of Hura were the happiest people. But things were about to change soon. By soon, I mean now!

— Run! Run! — Listen to me, you imbeciles! My name is Demon. And I am the most powerful being here. I came from a distant village where there's no more food for me. So, now I claim this village as my own. Ha ha ha!

— What? What do you want from us? — A goat every day. And on weekends, I'd like buffaloes. Now that's settled, I'd like to settle down in that cave over there. I hope the Wi-Fi works well!

— What? — Ugh, never mind. I'm going to my cave. Send me my dinner. Bye!

The Village Changes and the Demon's Threat

— Mom, I'm not sure if I should be scared or not. He speaks in such a sweet language. Such beings, whether they are demons or not, are always dangerous.

And so, Hura changed to oh, no.

— Oh, no! — Oh, no! What a horrible day! — Oh, no! It's my goat's turn today! — Oh, no!

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and one by one, all the village animals were eaten by the Demon. Now the villagers were scared.

— We have nothing left to offer you. — Uh, I'm sure you'll find a way. — You don't understand. All the animals... — Listen to me! I've been very nice and kind to you. But no more! Bring me food. Otherwise, I might eat your children. — Huh? — Huh? — Ha! — Go away! Go away!

Kana's Plan

That evening, all the people of Hura, now oh, no, gathered around the Sarpanch.

— What shall we do? — I don't know. I really don't know. — I think there's only one person who can help us now. — And who would that be? — Kana! — The flutist? How would he help us when all he does is make the horses neigh by playing his flute by the lake? — He is the smartest Hurian. And he is our only hope. — Good. Bring him.

— You called for me, Mr. Sarpanch? — Well, as you know, there's a problem. — Do you need my help? — Well, I hate to say it, but yes. — I thought you'd come to me sooner, but better late than never. Now listen to me carefully, because we cannot afford to make a mistake.

Confronting the Mega Demon

— Where's my food? — Your Majesty, we somehow managed to gather 18 rabbits, two bulls, and a chicken for you, for the whole week. But on the way, a Mega Demon caught us and took them all. — Huh? A Mega what? — Your Majesty, he is five times bigger than you and ate all the animals right in front of us. He told us he is the new ruler of the land.

— I won't allow it! Take me to him at once! — Your Majesty, he lives in the massive cave and warned us not to disturb him. I advise you not to enter, but to challenge him from outside. — Hmm. Me, Jalma. A demon bigger than me? We'll see.

The Sarpanch, with the other villagers, led the Demon to the massive cave.

— So this is where he lives? You scoundrel, come out! Defeat me!

A booming and piercing voice was heard from the cave.

— Who challenges me? — I am the Demon. Who are you? — I am the Mega Demon. Don't you dare disturb me, or I'll crush your head with my bare hands. — Oh really? You think you're so big? — Do you want to see me?

The Demon was shocked by the boldness of the voice.

— Hmm. Maybe he is a Mega Demon. I should use my wits before challenging him. If you're so big, give me proof! Show me a strand of your hair. — You're starting to annoy me. But fine. Since I've just eaten, I want to rest. Take a strand of my hair.

A thick rope was thrown from the cave.

— Oh my! If that's a strand of hair, I wonder how big his head must be. That doesn't prove anything. If you're so big, spit something out.

And then, a lump of semi-wet clay was thrown out.

— Huh? Goodness! That doesn't prove anything. — My patience is running out, Demon. Don't push me. — Well, if you're really that big, show me a piece of your fingernail.

A hoe blade was thrown out, followed by a powerful roar.

— Oh, my! If his fingernails are that big, I can only imagine what a giant body he has. I'd better run!

The Victory of Wit

And so, terrified, the Demon ran away and never returned. The villagers celebrated and jumped with joy, and Kana emerged from the cave. The villagers thanked him, and the Sarpanch appointed him as an advisor.

As for the Demon, he never came back. Kana, with his intelligence, proved that in difficult times, wit is more useful than strength.
