The Lamb and the Wolf

Once upon a time, there was a naughty lamb who got into all sorts of trouble every day.

— Oh dear! I'm covered in mud and I smell. Mommy won't like this.

Just then, his mother came and looked angrily at the lamb.

— You never listen to me! I told you not to jump from such a height!

— But I told you it's fun! You don't listen to me either, Mom!

The sheep couldn't help but laugh at her child and hugged him.

— Come on now, let's clean you up.

Mother's Warning

The mother loved her child so much, but she worried about his safety. Mom always warned him:

— Be careful! You mustn't go into the forest. Wild animals live there. They can be threatening! They might even eat you!

— Oh, Mom, you worry too much!

But the mischievous lamb never listened. The lamb quietly went into the forest and played for a long time, until it got dark.

The Encounter with the Wolf

One day, as usual, the lamb had gone deep into the forest. There, he saw a spring.

— Ah, a spring! What perfect timing! I was really thirsty!

He decided to drink water from the spring to quench his thirst. And while the lamb was drinking water from the spring, a wolf was watching him from behind a tree.

— Ah, a juicy lamb! Today is my lucky day!

Therefore, with his wicked thoughts, the wolf began to approach the lamb. The lamb didn't see the wolf at all while drinking water. And there was no one else but these two to save the lamb from the wolf.

— Do you know that this forest belongs only to wild animals like me? Why did you come here to drink water from this spring?

The lamb was surprised when he saw the wolf in front of him. He knew that wolves were dangerous animals.

— Mom warned me about wolves. I'm sure this fellow wants to eat me for lunch. This guy is fierce. I must get away from him as fast as I can. Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Wolf, I'm just a lamb who doesn't know anything.

— You're also making the water dirty! How can I drink this dirty water now?

— I'm sorry again, but won't you remain thirsty, Mr. Wolf? The water on your side is clean.

— Huh?

— Because the spring flows from your side towards me, sir!

The wolf was surprised to hear such a clever answer from the lamb, but the wolf was just looking for an excuse to kill the lamb.

— How dare you argue with me? I think you're the same lamb I argued with last year!

— Last year? But sir, I wasn't even born then!

The Clever Lamb

The lamb feared that the wolf was looking for an excuse to kill him. The lamb became cautious in his words and actions. And the lamb and the wolf spoke to each other carefully.

The lamb heard some woodcutters. They were coming into the area where the two were. The lamb was clever, so he thought:

— If I can keep talking to this wolf a little longer, the woodcutters will be here. They will chase him away.

— Mr. Wolf, you are right, I did make the water dirty. But I didn't mean to bother you.

— But you've already upset me!

— Let me make it up to you by telling you a story.

— A story? Ah, what a waste of time! But I must listen to him and get closer, because I have neither the strength nor the will to chase this lamb.

— Once upon a time...

In this way, the lamb continued to speak for a few minutes. As the lamb spoke, the woodcutters arrived. They saw both the lamb and the wolf.

— Oh, look there! A wolf!

— What a nuisance!

And they caught the wolf and beat him before letting him go. The lamb was happy to be safe.

— Oh, I barely escaped today!

He ran to his mother. He told his mother what had happened in the forest with the wolf and the woodcutters. And then he promised his mother never to wander into the forest again. And the mother was happy that the lamb had learned his lesson.

— Oh yes, now I know, Mom. I mustn't go to strange places, especially where stronger and fierce animals are waiting to kill me.

Moral: Always listen to your parents' advice and be clever in dangerous situations.
