The Raindrops

A Wonderful Day in the Clouds

It was a wonderful day. A troop of tiny raindrops woke up in their cloud. They were happy to be alive, happy to live in a splendid blue home.

Oh, all day long they had fun and laughed, played and jumped through the clouds.

Plans for a Busy Day

— Heads up! Today I'm going to beat Droplet in the race to the new cloud. — And my friends and I will travel over the mountains on the fluffy cloud. — And we'll make art with the seven colors of the sun's rays. Oh, how lucky we are to be tiny drops!

— What a day it will be! Let's go! — Ah, wait! We might have work to do today. — Work? What work? — Look!

The World Needs Help

— What's that? — Dampy, don't you think the tree leaves are dusty and dirty? And look, see? — Oh dear, the pond is getting smaller and smaller. — Yes, Droplet, it's time for us to go down.

— Can't we go tomorrow? I had plans for today! — Come on, Dampy! If we work together, it will be so much fun. Our friends need us. Let's go!

— Alright, Pitter-Patter! How wonderful, let's call everyone! If we don't all go, we won't be able to do much. — That's right, Droplet!

Suffering on Earth

Down below, the world was struggling due to the heat and lack of water.

— Mommy, it's so hot and I'm thirsty! Can we go to the pond, please? — My dear, don't go near the pond. It's so small that any hunter could attack you immediately. Wait a little, my dear. Our friends, the raindrops, will surely come soon.

— There's so little water that I can't drink without getting a mouthful of stones and sand. When will the raindrops come? — It's so hot and my thick skin isn't helping me. What should we do? Come on, water drops, please!

— The grass is dry and has no taste. It's not even grass anymore. If the raindrops don't come soon, we'll all starve.

Not just animals, but people too were waiting for the rain with great impatience.

— We've done everything we could. We've tilled the land, we've sown, but if it doesn't rain, we won't have any harvest. And then what will we sell? And how will we feed our children? And the animals? — Don't despair! I'm sure the clouds and the rain won't forget us!

The Call to Action

Up in the clouds, Pitter-Patter whistled to call everyone. Soon, millions of raindrops, gathered in flying clouds, assembled in the sky before Pitter-Patter.

— Hello everyone! Look at the condition of the earth! All the drops looked down. — Oh dear, the situation is not good at all! They really need us now! — Yes, that's right! It's time! We all must go to earth and help our friends. Everyone be ready in 10 seconds! — Yes! Woohoo! — Yes, that's right!

Soon, the raindrops were ready.

— Raindrops, jump! Now! To Earth! — To Earth! To Earth!

Rain Brings Life

The raindrops plunged towards the earth, thousands of drops like a thick blanket of rain. The trees, flowers, and birds saw them approaching.

— Woohoo! Finally, the rain is coming! The rain is coming! — Oh, yes! Welcome, little drops! Welcome! — What are you doing, playing, old man? — Oh, how happy I am to see you after so long! Thank you for coming! Now my leaves will be well washed, and the wind will be refreshing again.

— Mama, what a pleasant scent! Where is it coming from? — From there. When the rain mixes with the soil, this delicate scent results. — It's the most beautiful smell in the world!

Finally, the pond is getting fuller and fuller.

— Come on, my dear, drink as much as you can! — The water is so fresh and good! I could drink the whole pond! — Drink as much as you can and see if you succeed! — Woohoo! Come play with us! Come play with us! — Hehehe! How fun this is! Thank you, rain!

The Journey to the Ocean and Well-Deserved Rest

The small army of raindrops filled the earth, making the roots full of vigor, making the trees greener and larger, making the fresh grass shine. Thanks to the abundance of water, the ponds filled more and more, and the animals and birds drank as much as they could, played and laughed in them.

The raindrops gathered into small streams flowing from the mountains, uniting and forming huge rivers that passed through forests and plains. Even the tired people and dry lands received the rain, because the harvests had begun to grow, and the sun's heat had subsided.

Together, the tiny raindrops revived the earth, filling it with life and joy. They flowed continuously, day and night, until they reached the largest gathering of water possible, the mighty ocean.

Happy, the water drops swam and jumped on its waves.

— Woohoo! Who likes surfing? Who likes surfing?

Their work on earth was finished. So the sun came, lifted them up, and took them home. Its rays shone above the ocean. One by one, the drops climbed onto them, and finally, the sun carried them back to their fluffy clouds high in the sky.

— Yay, we did it! We did it! We did it! We did it! Woohoo!

The raindrops did very well, but wait, oh, shhh! Now the raindrops are sleeping. We must not make any noise. After so much work, they deserve to rest, don't they?

Just like the raindrops, so too are we: when we work together and have a purpose, the work is more fun and cheers everyone up.
