Princess Butterfly
Introducing the Princess
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess, with skin as pure as her soul and magnificent eyes you could get lost in. She was famous in all the neighboring kingdoms, not just for her beauty, but also for her spirit and intelligence.
Many princes wished to be her knight, but none succeeded. A man with magical powers, who could drain oceans, fell deeply in love with the princess.
The Wizard's Proposal
The wizard went to the castle to ask for Skyla's hand in marriage.
— Beautiful princess, I have come to ask for your hand. I want you to marry me.
But the princess refused.
— You are not worthy.
The Butterfly's Curse
This angered the magician. He loved her too much to give her up. So he transformed her into a butterfly. They quickly vanished into thin air, before the others realized what had happened.
He promised to give her life back if she would marry him. Even so, Skyla refused.
— Beautiful princess, why do you keep refusing me? — You are not worthy! — Not worthy? But you are a butterfly! Love me and I will change you back into a human! — Never!
Escape and a New Friend
But one evening she had a chance to escape, and she did.
— What must I do, princess, for you to agree to...
She was gone!
— Oh, it's so tiring to fly! — Shoo! Go away! Ah!
For a moment, the princess forgot she was a butterfly. But the stubborn princess wiped away her tears and went on the attack.
— Oh, no!
The Voice of the Waterfall
— What is this? — Who is my new visitor? — I am the princess. — What a beautiful butterfly! — Why do you have paintings of me on the wall?
The painter didn't hear her words, for the princess's voice was so faint that not even a mosquito could hear it.
— Are you admiring my paintings of the princess? She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her face haunts my dreams, so I paint her. — But I am the princess!
A Wish Granted
— What are you doing? Let me go! — Don't worry. Here you go, my new butterfly friend.
The painter caught the princess, not realizing she was the princess he admired. Two days later, after her wing had healed, the painter released her into nature.
The princess flew and flew, not knowing where to go.
— Oh, dear! Where should I go?
She found a waterfall. It reminded her of the waterfall she used to visit every full moon, singing to her heart's content. She began to cry softly and hum a sad song. But she didn't know that this waterfall was home to a goddess.
— You have an extraordinary voice, little butterfly! — I am a princess! — I heard you buzzing from inside my water home. — Buzzing? I thought I was singing!
The princess still didn't realize that others couldn't hear her true voice.
— Mortals cannot hear you, but I will give you the power of voice.
The princess's true voice was heard. The butterfly princess sang to her heart's content, which impressed the goddess so much that she granted Skyla one wish.
— Oh, thank you, goddess!
She told the goddess her story and that her wish was to regain human form.
— Oh, I cannot do that, for the curse is far too powerful to lift permanently. — What do you mean, permanently? — I can restore your human form, but only for two minutes. — Oh, thank you! Thank you!
— The only way to truly lift the curse is to kill the one who cast it upon you. — That old, nasty wizard did this to me! — If you can make the wizard disappear, then you can return completely to human form.
The goddess told the princess that the two minutes would come when she needed them most.
— And after those two minutes pass, you will return to butterfly form, if you cannot kill the wizard. — Yes, goddess, I know what I must do!
The Painter's Dilemma
— Oh, my little butterfly friend is back! — You must help me! Please help me! — And you can speak? How do you want me to help you? — I am Princess Skyla! I need your help to become human again! — I don't understand. How can you be the princess? The object of my love and affection all these years? You are just a butterfly! — An evil wizard, in love with me, transformed me into a butterfly. I barely escaped his hawk afterward and came here trying to get away.
The painter was in a dilemma. Could this talking butterfly be Princess Skyla?
— You will have to prove that you are the princess. — Nonsense! — So, should I believe any talking butterfly that enters my house?
He was right.
— Alright. Ask me something only a true princess would know. — Hmm. What did your father get you when you turned six? — That's easy! A formidable pony, which I still ride, or used to when I was human. — Correct! Oh my! You truly are the princess! I am so honored to have you in my home! — Yes, yes, honored! We must hurry! The wizard! — Of course, princess. — But what are you doing there? We must leave at once!
Journey to the Wizard's Castle
— Face a wizard with bare hands, princess? I have weapons and armor around here somewhere.
He wasn't the most fearless warrior. Yet, when he stood before the princess, ready to give his life for her, something touched her deep inside.
— How long have you been painting me? — Since the day you were born. You seemed a fascinating subject. I didn't know you would turn into something like this.
The princess realized then that this painter was the one she had been searching for all her life.
— Shouldn't we go, princess? — Yes, we must hurry! To the wizard's castle! I'll show you the way!
They arrived at the wizard's dark and gloomy castle.
— His bedroom is down there. If he's asleep, maybe we can kill him before he wakes up. — Let's hope so. I don't really know how to fight.
The Final Confrontation
— Who's there? Oh my! Who dares to enter my house? — Princess Skyla and her brave warrior! — This buffoon is supposed to be my opponent? — Ah! — Oh, no! My princess! You became human to save me! — You are my knight! You are my true prince!
Seeing her at death's door, the wizard was moved.
— Even if she doesn't feel the same, I love her too much to let her die.
The Curse is Lifted
He vanished!
— Now I am human again! — Let's go home, princess.
They took a horse from the wizard's stable and began their journey home to start their new life together.
Happily ever after.
