Princess Hase and Her Mother
Long, long ago, in the ancient capital of Japan, lived a noble politician named Prince Toyonari Fujiwara, his wife, Princess Murasaki, and their beautiful daughter, Princess Hase Hime. They were a very happy family until, one day, Princess Murasaki fell gravely ill.
A Mother's Last Advice
She knew she didn't have much time left, so she called for her daughter, Hase Hime, who was only five years old at the time. Hase Hime didn't quite understand what was happening, but even then, she was an obedient daughter with a kind heart.
